The data supporting the research titled "Balancing Curriculum Standards and High-Stakes Examinations: A Comparative Analysis of High School Instruction in Shadow and Mainstream Education in China" is comprised of three phases.

Phase One includes data and basic analyses derived from the 2020 version of the high school mathematics curriculum standards in China, five sets of new national college entrance examination mathematics test papers from 2020 to 2022, and the corresponding Mathlab code for analysis.

Phase Two encompasses the questionnaires and interview transcripts from 51 school teachers and 51 private tutors, along with an Excel sheet for calculating alignment, raw Python code, and NVivo coding files.

Phase Three consists of classroom observation data from two recorded lessons by school teachers, two recorded lessons by private tutors, and two live lessons by private tutors, as well as the corresponding dynamic curves and stability matrix charts.

Together, these components provide a comprehensive dataset for examining the balance between curriculum standards and high-stakes assessments in the context of shadow and mainstream education in China.
