posted on 2022-04-06, 08:28 authored by Zurong Liang
The data are related to the self-stigma of young Chinese men who have sex with men (MSM) living with HIV, divided into quantitative and qualitative parts. Concerning the quantitative part, there is a document in CSV format with 1,004 cases. Variables of the dataset include participants' personal information, perceived homosexual stigma, perceived HIV/AIDS stigma, internalised homosexual stigma, internalised HIV/AIDS stigma, their self-conception, mental health problems, interpersonal relationships, and community participation. Therefore, the quantitative dataset involves measures of stigma of participants and some indicators on the individual level, interpersonal level, and community level. Concerning the qualitative part, there is a folder with all transcriptions of interviews with 24 participants. The interviews focused on participants' perceptions of their stigmatised identities—MSM identity and HIV/AIDS identity, their reflections on the relationships with people around them, and their attitudes toward Chinese culture and social policies related to homosexuality and HIV/AIDS. The research has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Hong Kong (EA2005010)
