This dataset contains supporting data for the doctoral thesis “Bioinspired Directional Liquid Transport and Droplet Manipulation” submitted to The University of Hong Kong. The research investigates a novel selective liquid transport mode discovered in the succulent plant Crassula muscosa, where liquids propagate in opposite directions on different shoots, in contrast to previously reported species where transport is in fixed directions.

The dataset includes video recordings of liquid transport experiments on C. muscosa shoots and artificial surfaces that mimic their reentrant leaf structures. Different liquids such as water, acetone, and hexadecane were tested to visualize transport behaviors in either positive or negative direction. Supplementary movies associated with the published Science paper (2024) are also included.

These data files provide direct experimental evidence for the thesis findings and illustrate the physical mechanisms underlying selective directional liquid transport. They serve as visual documentation of the phenomena analyzed in the thesis and related publication.
