Supporting data for “Children’s Patterning Skills and their Roles in Mathematics Learning”.
This thesis contained 3 studies, aiming to provide a broader picture of patterning development and its contribution to mathematics learning. 2 datasets were used. The dataset for Study 1 and 2 contained the longitudinal data from preschoolers on their patterning skills, mathematics abilities and some cognitive abilities, and survey data from these preschoolers' parents. The dataset for Study 3 contained the cross-cultural data from elementary school students in Hong Kong and Montreal on their patterning skills, spatial skills, number line estimation ability, and various mathematics abilities.
