Supporting data for "Dangerous Pleasures: Queering ‘Women’ in Chinese Nisu Fan Culture"
This research investigates the structure of desire of a sub-culture within contemporary Chinese fan communities from 2018-2021. It focuses on a discursive practice called “Nisu,” which, shaped by historical-economic circumstances, fantasizes the male object as a female, typically in traditional familial terms. This dataset includes transcripts of the five semi-structured and in-depth interviews with four participants for the study of nisu culture, each lasting 2-4 hours. While three of them have considered themselves as "nisu fans," one participant was neutral about the subject matter. These transcripts serve as not primary but additional sources by providing more queer perspectives that are overlooked in past studies.
