Reason: This research concerns the sexual experiences of sexual minorities in Japan. I promised the interviewees that all research data would be handled by my supervisor. Thus, the dataset should not be made available to the public.
Supporting data for "Ethnosexuality: Exploring Cross-Border Gay Male Desires and Relationships in Japan"
This thesis explores cross-border desires and relationships between Japanese and international migrant (white and other Asian) gay men in Japan. By conducting in-depth interviews with twenty local Japanese and twenty international migrant gay men living in the greater Tokyo area and other cities between 2019-2022, this study examines the intersection of sexuality, race, ethnicity, and nationality in their intimate lives. This dataset represents the qualitative data from the research study. To protect the rights and confidentiality of the interviewees, all data has been anonymized. There are two files included in the dataset. One file contains demographic information about all the interviewees, while the other file presents coded interview data along with overarching themes and narratives. Interview data is sensitive, including the sexual and romantic experiences of gay men.
