This item contains the data used in the thesis entitled "Evolutionary history, population genomics, and novel genomic tools for mosquitoes and mosquito-borne pathogens", authored by Mac Phillips Pierce.

The data consists of raw illumina sequencing reads in FastQ format.

The data was used for several projects:

  1. Phylogenetics and evolutionary history of mosquitoes. This project re-examined the evolutionary history of mosquitoes using genome wide DNA markers generated through targeted enrichment of ultraconserved elements.
  2. Population genomics of Aedes albopictus. This project examined the population structure of Aedes albopictus throughout its native range in Asia, and at a fine scale within Hong Kong, using genome wide genomic data generated through ddRAD sequencing. It also evaluated ultraconserved elements as markers for population genomic analyses, comparing them with the more commonly used ddRAD.
  3. Design and validation of target enrichment panels for mosquito epidemiology. This project designed several probe panels for use in target enrichment of mosquitoes, Haemosporidian parasites, and mosquito-borne viruses in the families Togaviridae and Flaviviridae.

Details regarding the data sets can be found in the thesis entitled "Evolutionary history, population genomics, and novel genomic tools for mosquitoes and mosquito-borne pathogens".
