The dataset was collected for the thesis entitled “Exploring And Enhancing Transitional Competences Of Grade One Students Through The Use Of Picture Books”. In order to explore the transitional competences of Grade One students in Hong Kong, a rating tool was developed and preliminarily validated. To enhance the students' transitional competences, a picture book intervention was carried out in a Hong Kong primary school. The data includes survey, students’ tests scores, interviews, and lesson transcripts. Consents from participants were obtained before the study.
