The success rate of in vitro fertilization (IVF) remains limited even high-quality embryos are transferred, indicating the presence of endometrial causes. Increasing evidence has demonstrated the crucial roles of invasion of human endometrial stromal cells (EnSC) during embryo implantation. Decidualized EnSC (d-EnSC) has been suggested as biosensor of embryo quality. Our team has established human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-derived trophoblast spheroids (BAP-EB) mimicking blastocysts. In this study, to develop a promising model for assessing endometrial receptivity, BAP-EB-induced invasion of d-EnSC was assessed and used to investigate the feotal-maternal interaction during early implantation.
