This dataset accompanies the thesis "Promoting Students’ Citizenship in Thailand’s Social Studies Classroom through the Use of Variation Theory of Learning", which consists of three consecutive studies. The primary aim of this research is to enhance students' citizenship in Thailand’s social studies education. The dataset associated with Study One consists of transcripts from pilot and main interviews with secondary social studies teachers in Thailand. These data provide insight into how teachers perceive trends in economics education and current economic issues. Study Two includes transcripts of interviews with secondary school students in Thailand, along with their written test answers. This dataset reflects students’ perceptions of the government’s role in economic systems. Study Three comprises students’ pretest and posttest scores from two classrooms and transcripts of classroom teaching, students' work, and discussion notes. The variation theory of learning was adopted as the core theory in this study.
