Study One compared expert human judges with prompted and unprompted AI creativity ratings generated by ChatGPT-4o on two realistic creativity tasks in terms of interrater reliability, theoretical construct validity, and convergent validity with openness. Study One also tested how trait regulatory focus (promotion vs. prevention) predicted creativity outcomes through originality and usefulness. The dataset includes participants’ demographics, personality traits scores, regulatory focus scores, and creativity ratings (originality, usefulness, and creativity) from human and AI raters.

Study Two tested the causal effects of state regulatory focus on creativity by orthogonally manipulated regulatory focus across the idea generation and evaluation stages. Creativity ratings were generated by prompted AI raters (ChatGPT-4o). Participants completed manipulation check items after each stage and measures of trait regulatory focus as covariates.
