Supporting data for "The Relationship between Parental Involvement, Digital Parental Involvement, Parental Autonomy Support and Academic Intrinsic Motivation: A Mixed Methods Study on Hong Kong International High School Students"

This dataset includes quantitative and qualitative data from my PhD research. My PhD research aims to examine how and why parental practices (i.e., parental autonomy support, parental involvement and digital parental involvement) are related to students’ intrinsic motivation, and how and why students’ sex and grade levels moderate this relationship. A pilot study was conducted among Years 10 to 13 students in one Hong Kong international school (N=392), using exploratory factor analysis. The main quantitative study was conducted among Years 10 to 13 students in 9 Hong Kong international schools (N=1216), using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling, including multi-group SEM. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 28 parents in the main qualitative study, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The study was ethically approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee for Non-clinical Faculties.
