The dataset is used in the thesis, "The geography and governance of new town development through public-private partnerships in China". This study endeavors to examine state-market relations in urban China, contributing to theoretical debates on the subject. The research aims to depict the geographical distribution of Urban Collaborative Development (UCD) projects across various Chinese cities. It also seeks to assess the correlation between these distributions and the cities' socioeconomic attributes. The research hypotheses are tested using regression models, considering five principal categories of factors. The first category involves the levels of economic development. The second examines the industrial structure. The third scrutinizes the business environment. The fourth evaluates land-based finance. The fifth takes into account the urban region. The results obtained from the research offer insights into the restructuring of urban governance and state-market relations through UCDs. The study underscores the significance of urban regional policies and land-based financing in the newly emerging urban development model.
