The dissertation focuses on the consequences of non-random biodiversity loss on ecosystem functioning in both artificial and naturally altered ant assemblages. Several morphological functional traits were assessed and identified to mediate response to invasion and contribution to ecosystem functioning. Additionally, intraspecific variation in identified traits were examined. Furthermore, the pattern of functional trait changes in invaded assemblages is explained through body size differences.
