Supporting data for the thesis titled “Driving towards Sustainability: A Longitudinal Study on the Interplay between Electric Vehicles and Electricity Generation Mix”
This dataset involves three sections, with the first section as idling emission of private vehicles ("Chapter 3 dataset. docx" and "Chapter 3 behavioral dataset.sav"), the second section as total emission of private vehicles involving both idling and travelling emission ("Chapter 4 dataset.docx"), and the third section as the development potential of green hydrogen and decarbonization effect hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in China ("Chapter 5 dataset.docx"). For the idling section, an online questionnaire survey is distributed to more than 200 private vehicles drivers with different fuel types in Hong Kong, followed by analysing the idling behavioral pattern with ordinal regression. Afterwards, the results are added up to the next section to calculate the total emission of private vehicles in Hong Kong, and are also referenced to estimate the total emission of private vehicles in Singapore, Luxembourg, Oslo, Vermont, and China with multiple equations. The last section estimates the development potential of green hydrogen in China with a demand supply policy model, and VIKOR decision making method. This is then followed by the comparison of total emissions in a provincial level of China between the total emissions of private vehicles with electric vehicles dominated in section 2, and total emissions of private vehicles with hydrogen vehicles dominated in section 3.
