“Guiding the Youth of the Colony”: The Girl Guide Movement in Hong Kong, 1916-1997
This dataset consists of four oral history interview records regarding the Girl Guiding experience form the 1950s to 1990s. Interviewees are all Girl Guide Commissoners, some of them have been Girl Guides when they were younger. This research hopes to record Girl Guide activities in the 1950s to 90s and understand their motives for joining the movement. More importantly, it asks what Girl Guiding meant to their childhood. We also hope to know how they promoted the Girl Guide movement in Hong Kong and what difficulties they encountered during the post-war period.
