Supporting data for "Household secondhand tobacco exposure in adolescents: trends, socioeconomic differences and smokefree home restrictions"
This zip folder contains 2 parts.
The first part is data from a School-based Smoking Survey among Students (SSS), a repeated cross-sectional study conducted biannually by our research team. This dataset includes SSS 2010/11, 2012/13, 2014/15, 2016/17, 2018/19, and 2020/21. This study is funded by the Food and Health Bureau, Hong Kong SAR. The reference number for each survey round is FHB/H/41/21/1, FHB/H/41/21/2, FHB/H/41/100, FHB/H/41/124, FHB/H/41/157 and FHB/H/41/176, respectively.
The data from each survey round are stored in CSV format, accompanied by detailed project reports and the original questionnaires used for data collection.
For specific chapters in our analysis:
- Chapter 4: Utilizes data spanning from the 2010/11 to 2020/21 survey rounds, providing a broad overview of trends over a decade.
- Chapter 5: Focuses specifically on the data from the 2020/21 survey, offering insights into the tobacco exposure from different products.
- Chapter 7: Analyses data from the 2016/17 survey, allowing for an in-depth examination of smokefree home restrictions.
The second component of the dataset consists of data from a qualitative study focused on Hong Kong parents who use tobacco. This study explores their practices, perceptions, and attitudes towards creating and maintaining a smoke-free home environment. The qualitative data were gathered through in-depth interviews. The dataset includes both audio recordings and verbatim transcripts of these interviews, ensuring a comprehensive capture of the parents' narratives.
