Supporting data for “ Green Space as Preventive Medicine: Investigating the Relationship between Green Space and Life-threatening Diseases Using Spatial Statistics ”
This dataset contains the raw and processed data for the thesis that studies the relationship between various types of green space and life-threatening diseases in the US. It includes cardiovascular and respiratory disease incidence data at the tract level (N=69,804), COVID-19 infection and mortality rate data at the county level, green space data, socioeconomic and demographic data, behavioral data, policy and regulation data, health data, and environmental data.
These data are derived from diverse sources: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Land Cover Database (NLCD) 2016, Environmental Systems Research Institute (ERSI) USA Parks, 2020 WorldPop Dataset, US Census Bureau, The National Governors Association, The US Covid Atlas, American Community Survey (ACS), Descartes Labs, USGS National Transportation Dataset (NTD) Airports, United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Climate Divisional Database, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and National Center for Health Statistics.
