Supporting data for “Understanding the roles of micro and macro-level factors in educational inequality in higher education attainment”

The dataset was collected by Qiongjiang Song from first-year college students at six higher education institutions in mainland China. The dataset contains 2,071 samples and is being used in the analysis for the doctoral thesis titled "Understanding the roles of micro and macro-level factors in educational inequality in higher education attainment."
The dataset contains variables from four main parts: students' family socioeconomic status, school characteristics, test-taking abilities, and demographic information (such as gender, hukou, province of residence, and Gaokao exam type, etc).
