Supporting data for “Effects of a Nurse-Led Palliative Care Programme on Psychospiritual Wellbeing for People with Progressive Neurological Diseases: A Randomised Controlled Trial”

This dataset supports the findings presented in the thesis titled: Effects of a Nurse-Led Palliative Care Programme on Psychospiritual Wellbeing for People with Progressive Neurological Diseases: A Randomised Controlled Trial. The research focuses on the development and evaluation of a novel, nurse-led, acceptance- and commitment-based palliative care programme aimed at improving psychospiritual wellbeing and other health outcomes in individuals with progressive neurological diseases (PNDs).

To inform the development of a responsive palliative care intervention, the study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to identify gaps in existing palliative care interventions for PNDs. The review systematically evaluates and critically appraises current evidence on neuro-palliative care, with primary outcomes including symptom burden, quality of life, caregiver burden, and satisfaction with care. The findings aim to identify effective intervention components and guide the implementation of evidence-based neuro-palliative practices.

The dataset includes comprehensive baseline, post-intervention, and follow-up outcomes from 15 studies, comprising a total of 3,431 patients and 1,776 caregivers. These data provide valuable insights into the effects of palliative care on patient and caregiver outcomes over time.
