Supporting data for The Nature and Transfer Effects of Computational Thinking in STEM
The dataset is the primary data that supported three enclosed studies (study 3, study 4, and study 5) in the project entitled "The Nature and Transfer Effects of Computational Thinking in STEM".
Study 3 investigates the efficacy of the project-first approach to programming in a technology-deprived environment. The data shows the daily Python programming artefacts of the students and their scores.
Study 4 is an inquiry into the nature of computational thinking (CT) problem-solving. The data is a qualitative response from seven students to demonstrate how CT is operationalized in everyday route planning task.
Study 5 is an experimental study (n = 59) that investigated if learning with abstraction model enhances students’ programming knowledge and CT skill. The data contains participants response to quesstionaire, performance in programming knowledge test and CT test scores.
