This study investigates the increasing presence of contemporary Chinese science fiction in the Anglophone world via translation. It examines the three stages in the worlding process of the genre, including the patronage of translation projects, the execution of translation, and the transnational circulation and reading of the works.

The data are used for exploring the patronage models for the translation projects and the mass market circulation status of the translated works in the English market. Dataset Document I collects the publication details of the translations, including author, translator, publisher, title, year, translated title, and editor. It is used for identifying the patronage model behind the projects. Dataset Document II collects the mass market circulation data, such as the number of reviews and ratings, and rating scores of the book titles from Amazon and Goodreads. It is used to examine the scale of distribution of translated works in the English market.
